The government proposes to increase the minimum wage to 3,700 lei

The executive proposed an increase in the gross minimum wage to 3,700 lei, from July 1, 2024.

In return, the unions demanded an increase to 3,800 lei, from the same date.

"The unions' proposal was 3,800 lei from July 1, 2024, while the Government came up with a proposal to increase it to 3,700 lei," revealed Florin Jianu, president of the National Council of Small and Medium-sized Private Enterprises in Romania (CNIPMMR).

"I understood that the budget is being put into decision-making transparency today, we asked for a few things, a consistent request for the business environment and I understood that it is a 12% increase in the budget for SMEs. We did not receive a very clear answer, but we believe and hope and we will be careful when building the budget that there are amounts for start-ups, for SMEs, for the level of guarantees for next year, because if we only discuss taxes and duties and do not discuss the reconstruction and support of the business environment, I do not think we are on a good trend," he added, according to spotmedia.ro.

The gross minimum wage is currently 3,300 lei.
