The government grants three new days off in 2023

The Government has established, through a decision, that January 23, June 2 and August 14, 2023 will be days off for employees in public institutions and authorities, given that these are between legal holidays on which no work is done, according to the Labor Code, and weekly rest days.

The decision to establish days off at the beginning of the year for staff in the budgetary system was made in accordance with the Labor Code, so that employers and employees can establish and predict their days off for the whole year.

The provisions of the normative act do not apply to workplaces where the activity cannot be interrupted due to the production process or the specifics of the activity, nor to magistrates and other categories of personnel within the courts involved in resolving trials with deadlines on January 23, June 2 and August 14, 2023, or to participants in these trials.

According to the document approved by the Government, the Ministry of Finance headquarters will carry out collection and payment operations, payment operations regarding public debt service, as well as any debit operations ordered by the European Commission from the own resources account in lei opened at the State Treasury.

Also, the administrative-territorial units/subdivisions that on January 23, June 2 and August 14, 2023 have payment obligations due on loans contracted from privatization revenues, according to the schedules attached to the loan agreements, will take the necessary measures in advance to make the payment of the amounts due.

To make up for the days off, public institutions and authorities will appropriately extend their working hours until February 28, June 30, and August 31, 2023, respectively, according to established plans.
