Calls for 970 million euros to support vulnerable people

Vulnerable people will benefit from a special support package through the Social Inclusion and Dignity Program, with the first calls for projects to be opened in the second quarter of this year.

In total, in 2023, 10 calls will be launched through this program, totaling 970 million euros, with projects being able to be submitted by administrative-territorial units, local action groups, social service providers, social enterprises or administrators of social entrepreneurship schemes.

The Social Inclusion and Dignity Program will finance 11 investment priorities:

  • Local development placed under the responsibility of the community;
  • Local development placed under the responsibility of the community – rural area;
  • Protecting the right to social dignity;
  • Supporting rural communities with no or limited access to social services;
  • Reducing disparities between children at risk of poverty and/or social exclusion and other children;
  • Support services for the elderly;
  • Support for people with disabilities;
  • Social and support services provided to other vulnerable groups;
  • Social innovation;
  • Helping disadvantaged people;
  • Technical assistance.

The largest budget is allocated to the priority of helping disadvantaged people – 980 million euros – which will finance measures such as basic food packages or hot meals, support for the purchase of school supplies and clothing for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, support for mother-child couples.

Supporting rural communities benefits from an allocation of 815 million euros, which will finance integrated community centers, the development of social services in rural communities and the training of professionals in the field of social assistance.
