CECCAR calls for the repeal of emergency ordinances

The Body of Certified Accountants and Authorized Accountants of Romania (CECCAR) requests the repeal of the emergency ordinances regarding some fiscal measures published on Friday in the Official Gazette.

At the same time, CECCAR wants to "initiate a real and constructive dialogue with all stakeholders to identify sustainable tax solutions that matter."

"The great Romanian fiscal circus, where state officials play hide-and-seek with their responsibilities (transferring them precisely to taxpayers, that is, those who finance their salaries), while the business environment is treated as a suspect main character, in a play entitled "They're All Tax Evaders".

Can't we identify the real evaders? No problem: we'd better assume they're all there! We're making stricter rules for everyone so that no one escapes.

It doesn't even matter that the IT system barely works, what matters is that the rules are there, "carved" in the ministry's "digital stone".

This bureaucratic circus claims to be the solution to filling the state treasury, but it suffocates entrepreneurs, accounting professionals, and innovation.

"Romania does not only need digital tools, but a digital mentality in the executive leadership of the authority that drafts tax legislation," a harsh statement from CECCAR states.

Emergency Ordinances 69 and 70/2024 concern the expansion of the e-Invoice and the e-VAT system.
