More money for beneficiaries of the de minimis aid scheme for the transition to the circular economy

The Ministry of Economy, Entrepreneurship and Tourism has published for consultation the draft Ordinance amending Government Ordinance no. 27/2022 on the regulation of certain financial measures by establishing the de minimis aid scheme for the transition to the circular economy approved with additions by Law no. 197/2023. The regulatory act amends the initially approved budget, by supplementing it, so that more companies can benefit from financing.

The initial budget allocated to the scheme was the equivalent in lei of 8 million euros, but after the additions it will be 12.55 million euros. At the same time, the number of beneficiaries is also changing, increasing to 90.

The decision to increase the available amounts was made following increased demand from the industry, following the funding application session launched in December 2022, with 94 funding applications being submitted, of which only 47 received funding, following the budget exhaustion.

The de minimis aid scheme for the circular economy has the following objectives:

  • decoupling economic growth from the consumption of natural resources by reusing and recycling materials already available on the market in the form of waste,
  • extending the lifespan of products, increasing the degree of repairability, facilitating the recycling of component materials;
  • expanding recycling activity,
  • establishing economic instruments to promote reuse and stimulate industrial symbiosis and ecological products.
