The counties with the highest salaries at the beginning of this year were Bucharest, with an average net salary of 5,000 lei (compared to 4,500 lei in 2022); Cluj, with 4,800 lei (versus 4,100 lei in 2022), Timiș (4,700 lei vs. 4,000 in 2022) or Sibiu, which, with an average net salary of 4,500 lei, is the county that recorded the largest increases compared to last year, when the average salary per county was 3,500 lei.
In Brașov, Iași and Ilfov we are talking about average net salaries of 4,000 lei, approximately 15% more than at the end of 2022, according to data Salary, the salary comparator from eJobs.
There are changes in the ranking of counties where people earn the least and, if a few months ago the first places were occupied by Gorj, Vaslui, Bacău, Mehedinți and Ialomița, at the beginning of this year we find counties such as Vrancea, Vâlcea, Galați, Suceava and, again, Vaslui. For these counties, the averages wage reported by Salario varies between 3,000 and 3,400 lei net per month.
"From the perspective of the fields, things are much more stable, but only in terms of their succession in the hierarchy because, otherwise, here too we are talking about salary increases compared to last year. In other words, IT continues to be the best-paid field in Romania, with average net earnings of 7,020 lei per month (versus 6,000 lei in 2022)," says Bogdan Badea, CEO of eJobs, the largest recruitment platform in Romania.
Those working in project management occupy the second position, with a average salary of 6,000 lei, as Salario data shows.
Banking employees earn, on average, 5,500 lei per month (vs. 4,300 in 2022), and those in telecommunications and automation 5,000 lei (up from 4,200 lei). The 4,500 lei threshold was also exceeded, at the beginning of the year, by employees in automotive/equipment and oil/gas (4,800 lei), e-commerce (4,700 lei), marketing (4,500 lei) or insurance (4,500 lei).
"We also see an average salary of 5,000 lei for remote jobs. Although their number on the platform is decreasing compared to the same period last year, candidates maintain a high interest in them and apply accordingly, which is why they can become a competitive advantage for those employers who have difficulty finding sufficient candidates in the market," explains Bogdan Badea.
For jobs outside the country, the average net salary is, according to Salario data, 10,000 lei per month.
