Over 1,500 companies entered insolvency in the first quarter of 2023

1,644 companies entered insolvency in the first quarter of 2023, a similar number to the first quarter of 2022 when 1,610 companies were registered as insolvent.

Of these, 23 (compared to 17 in the first quarter of 2022) are impact companies, which have over 1,950 employees, record fixed assets worth over 589 million lei and total turnover of 805 million lei, the analysis shows. CITR, the market leader in insolvency and restructuring from Romania.

The most affected areas are: trade (476 companies), construction (308 companies) and industry (195 companies).

The regions with the most insolvencies are Bucharest (282 companies), Bihor (143 companies), Cluj (105 companies).

In the first quarter of 2023, five draft preventive composition proposals for impact companies, with assets of over 1 million euros, were admitted by the courts.
