The government is still working on the fiscal-budgetary package and in a few days it will be made transparent, Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu announced today.
"We continue to write the normative act (on the fiscal-budgetary package - ed.). Then it will be made transparent, as is normal. By the end of the month we will finish the whole circuit, including assuming responsibility in Parliament. And let's see if certain supplementary ordinances are still needed. We waited and talked about the so-called austerity, but we saw in the normative act that salaries will increase and there is no austerity, explaining each time that Romania learned from the previous crisis, when a major mistake was made, cutting the salaries of Romanians, truly some who still have very high salaries, from my point of view, in the budgetary system they cannot benefit from vacation vouchers, just like the almost 1.6 million Romanians who have the minimum wage in the economy, but I did not see anything of austerity. Now if we waited and endured this austerity for two months, we can stay for 2-3 more days...", said Ciolacu, according to Digi24.
"The first package that the minister will finalize for me will be the one on combating tax evasion, and you saw that here too I spoke to the factory and congratulated them that this industry (tobacco – ed.) has zero tax evasion. Then there will be the reform of the administrative system and we have a normal dialogue with the central administration and the social partners and the local administration. The third is the fiscal package, so that Romania is sustainable this year and in the years to come, until Romania comes up with a fiscal reform that is included in the PNRR as a milestone. You will see the package in 2-3 days, because no one will sneak it through at night. There will be a minimum of 24 hours in which amendments are submitted to Parliament. It will respect the law and will be transparent, because it will go through the Romanian Government, where it must receive approvals. And with the banks (tax on exceptional income of banks – ed.), you will see in 2-3 days," added the Romanian Prime Minister.
