CNIPMMR requests that the Tax Code not be amended until January 1, 2024

CNIPMMR and the Concordia Employers' Confederation, the two nationally representative confederations, had a meeting today, August 9, at the Romanian Senate, with the President of the Senate Nicolae Ciucă.

The main topic of the discussion was the measures that the new governing coalition wants to apply in order to reduce the budget deficit.

Thus, the two organizations reiterated the following:

1. No modification of the Tax Code until January 1, 2024;

2. Ensuring the predictability of the business environment in the coming period and announcing new measures at least 6 months before their application;

3. Substantiating the adoption of new fiscal measures with impact studies and analyses;

4. The main negative effects on the economy in the event of the adoption of the new measures: decreased competitiveness of companies, loss of jobs, increased inflation or the possibility of lower tax and fee collection. The transition from a certain taxation system to an uncertain one, not ensuring the collection of additional revenues;

5. Involvement of the two organizations in the debate on future public policy proposals, as the main representatives on the employer side of the social dialogue in Romania;

The two organizations will have a meeting with representatives of the European Commission tomorrow, starting at 10:30 AM.
