The unemployment rate has increased nationally.

At the end of February 2024, the national unemployment rate was 3.061%, 0.06 percentage points higher than in the same month of 2023.

The total number of unemployed people at the end of February 2024 was 246,701 people, of whom 56,704 were unemployed with benefits and 189,997 without benefits, announces the Municipal Employment Agency (AMOFM).

The number of unemployed people receiving unemployment benefits decreased by 940 people, and the number of unemployed people not receiving unemployment benefits increased by 7,826 people compared to the previous month.

By area of residence, the number of unemployed people at the end of February is as follows: 70,270 unemployed people come from urban areas and 176,431 unemployed people come from rural areas.

The number of unemployed women on February 29, 2024 was 116,346 people, while the number of unemployed men was 130,355 people.

Most unemployed people were between 40 and 49 years old (62,760), followed by those over 55 years old (53,778), at the opposite end were people between 25 and 29 years old (14,980).

Regarding the structure of unemployment by level of education, the unemployed without education and those with primary education have a significant share in the total number of unemployed registered in the ANOFM records (29,71%).

Unemployed people with a secondary education level represent 34.001% of the total registered unemployed, and those with university degrees represent 4.77% of the total registered unemployed.
