The unemployment rate has increased.

3.09% was the unemployment rate recorded in the ANOFM records in January 2023.

At the end of January 2023, the unemployment rate registered at the national level was 3.09%, higher than the previous month by 0.04, announces the National Employment Agency (ANOFM).

The total number of unemployed people at the end of January 2023 was 242,063 people, 2,999 people higher than that recorded at the end of the previous month.

Of the total number of registered unemployed, 46,260 were unemployed with benefits and 195,803 were unemployed without benefits. The number unemployed people receiving benefits increased by 729 people, and the number of unemployed people without benefits increased by 2,270 people compared to the previous month.

By residence environment, number of unemployed people at the end of January it is as follows: 69,304 unemployed people come from urban areas and 172,759 unemployed people come from rural areas.

Most unemployed people were between 40 and 49 years old (59,293), followed by those over 55 years old (47,502), at the opposite end were people between 25 and 29 years old (17,658).

Regarding the structure of unemployment by level of education, unemployed people without education and those with primary education have a significant share in the total number of unemployed people registered in the ANOFM records (29,28%). Unemployed people with secondary education represent 32,54% of the total number of registered unemployed people, and those with university education 4,56%.
