The average net wage in the economy increased

The average gross salary was 6,457 lei in September 2022, 109 lei (+1.7%) higher than in August 2022.

The average net salary was 4,003 lei, up 70 lei (+1.81% YoY) compared to August 2022, the National Institute of Statistics announces.

The highest values of salary earnings The highest average net wages were recorded in the manufacture of coke oven products and products obtained from crude oil processing (16,085 lei), and the lowest in hotels and restaurants (2,233 lei).

Compared to September of the previous year, the average net salary increased by 13.8%.

In September 2022, in most activities in the economic sector, the level salary income The average net salary increased compared to August 2022, as a result of the granting of occasional bonuses (quarterly, annual bonuses, management bonuses, for outstanding performance or for "Oil Worker's Day"), in-kind rights and cash benefits, amounts from net profit and other funds (including securities). Also, the increases in the average net salary were due to higher production achievements or receipts (depending on contracts/projects).

The most significant increases in average net earnings at the level of NACE Rev.2 sections/divisions were recorded as follows:

• by 114.7% in the manufacture of coke oven products and products obtained from crude oil processing, respectively by 57.4% in the extraction of crude oil and natural gas, mainly as a result of the granting of occasional bonuses and incentives, bonuses for management, for outstanding performance or for "Oil Worker's Day";

• between 10.0% and 21.5% in the extraction of metal ores, tanning and finishing of leather (including the manufacture of travel goods and leather goods, harness and footwear; preparation and dyeing of furs);

• between 3.5% and 5.0% in other industrial activities nec, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products and pharmaceutical preparations, manufacture of computers and electronic and optical products, warehousing and auxiliary transport activities;

• between 2.0% and 3.5% in the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, printing and reproduction of recordings on media, information technology service activities (including IT service activities), textile manufacturing, metal construction industry and metal products (excluding machinery, equipment and installations), manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products, manufacturing of electrical equipment, metallurgical industry, wood processing, manufacturing of wood and cork products (except furniture, including the manufacture of articles made of straw and other plaited vegetable materials), furniture manufacturing, manufacturing of wearing apparel.

The decreases in the average net salary compared to August 2022 were determined by the granting in previous months of occasional bonuses, in-kind rights and cash aid, amounts from net profit and other funds (including securities). The decreases in the average net salary were also determined by production failures or lower receipts (depending on contracts/projects).

The most significant decreases in average net earnings at the level of NACE Rev.2 sections/divisions were recorded as follows:

• with 10.1% in telecommunications;

• between 2.5% and 5.0% in the production and supply of electricity and heat, gas, hot water and air conditioning, manufacture of tobacco products, auxiliary service activities to extraction, forestry and logging (including fishing and aquaculture), hotels and restaurants, upper and lower coal extraction, water transport, insurance, reinsurance and pension fund activities (except those in the public social security system).

In the budgetary sector, in September 2022, increases in the average net salary were recorded compared to the previous month in education (+8.8%, following the resumption of hourly payment for teachers), respectively in public administration (+1.0%). In health and social assistance, the average net salary decreased slightly compared to the previous month (-0.4%).
